Follow @abbvie on , , , and .Job DescriptionReporting to the Affiliate Medical Director of Austria, the Medical Operations Manager (MOM) is responsible for supporting the Affiliate Medical Affairs Manager in leading and coordinating
regional/affiliate initiatives involving all local Affiliate Capabilities, providing leadership and functional expertise to local non interventional studies, Promotional Review Process, Quality/Training Tools, Publication Process and Patient support Programs, enabling the affiliate Medical Directors to provide quality local services to project managing key initiatives affecting Affiliate MedicalTeams. This position also assists the Affiliate Medical Director in achieving the strategic goals for IMA initiatives through the preparation and execution of tactical plans, and serves as a key contact for issues resolution and liaison between the affiliate Medical Departments and Area.

  • Coordinate on-boarding activities for new joining affiliate medical staff: develop and maintain appropriate tools (Onboarding Guide, Medical Fundamentals, Medical Training Matrix, CV template, Job Descriptions etc.); Provide access to systems, guidance on use and trouble-shooting support.
  • Assist the Affiliate Medical Director in driving IMA geo-strategy within Austria; help develop affiliate for potential participation in global studies.
  • Ensure local research activities are conducted in a scientific, efficient and compliant way, with due regard to applicable policies, processes and procedures and national regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with AbbVie tools (INSIGHTS, IMPACT, e-Docs etc.); provide guidance on timeline and budget planning; ensure scientific deliverables are available to support product development; compile IMPACI and non-IMPACT local study data; maintain and improve AbbVie tools and SOP compliance ; operational guidance and support.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable company standards, policies and procedures among ex-US/PR affiliate medical staff. Provide systems compliance support for staff, and support readiness activities for inspections/audits (PV/GCP) as necessary.
  • Ongoing identification of specific training needs throughout the Affiliate, and coordination of training delivery, where appropriate, through liaison with Development Operations Training staff.
  • Act as a driver to maintain and continuous optimization of the local promotion review and approval process, have SOP’s in place and train affiliate staff to ensure an efficient and compliant way, with due regard to applicable policies, processes and procedures and national regulations.

Qualifications

  • University/Bachelor’s degree, with a strong background in health sciences.
  • Ideally, experience and proven track record of success within an AbbVie Affiliate in clinical research and drug development, regulatory pharmacovigilance and marketing interactions.
  • 2-5 years in team and drug development or project management related experience. General experience working on, or leading projects.
  • Good leadership and the ability to command the respect and support of the Abbvie lnternational medical and marketing community.
  • Excellent communication, networking, tact and diplomacy, and people skills.
  • Fluency in English and an appreciation of the difficulties and ambiguities in English language usage in the region. Fluency in a regional language is a definite asset.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and an awareness of differences in medical and clinical practice in the region.
  • Rapidly adaptable to a changing environment and willingness to assess and implement new ideas and opportunities.
  • Self-starter with vision and initiative and the ability to work unsupervised towards the achievement of challenging goals.
  • Sound judgment, strong planning and organizational skills, and the ability to get things done.
  • Knowledge and experience in AbbVie systems and processes is desired.
  • Excellent communication, networking, tact and diplomacy, and people skills, and ability to take into account cultural differences.
