Medical Education Manager, Oncology

SUMMARY: The Medical Education Manager will spearhead the development and implementation of the oncology medical educational plan. Collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, this role will ensure that all educational initiatives are effectively coordinated, compliant with relevant regulations, support brand strategies, address external knowledge gaps, and enhance patient outcomes. The manager will also be responsible for managing external vendor relationships to drive the successful implementation of medical education programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Educational Initiatives: Manage the budget, planning, development, and execution of accredited and non-accredited medical education initiatives. This includes collaborating with physician associations, external experts, and internal teams to create impactful educational content.
  • Compliance: Ensure all medical education activities comply with industry regulations (e.g., PAAB, IMC) and internal policies, maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct. Act as the medical education subject matter expert responsible for the review, approval and documentation of materials.
  • Cross-functional and Alliance Collaboration: Partner with Medical, Marketing, and other relevant stakeholders to develop and implement educational programs across the product lifecycle. Work closely with cross-functional teams and alliance partners to co-create impactful programs that align to brand strategy and address the needs of external stakeholders. Work with Medical for scientific leadership in content and Sales for optimal field implementation.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee external vendors to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of education programs. Manage project timelines and objectives to meet brand strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly analyze program metrics, industry trends, and feedback to continuously improve educational initiatives. Share insights and best practices with the broader team through a transparent dashboard.
  • Omnichannel Solutions: Support the creation of omnichannel educational that leverage various platforms to enhance learning experiences.
  • Field Support: Coordinate and support in-field medical education activities, assisting Field Staff in event execution.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals and other relevant stakeholders to gather insights and drive innovative educational initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on medical education.
  • Skills: Exceptional organizational, project management, written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with industry compliance standards and guidelines (e.g., IMC, PAAB). Understanding of adult learning principles and accreditation processes. Strong understanding of pharmaceutical marketing and sales processes.
  • Mindset/Behavior: High self-motivation, assertiveness and goal orientation. “Hands on” mentality. Ability to work in a matrix and multicultural organization.
  • Education: Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or medicine (e.g., Pharm.D., M.D., Ph.D. or other scientific degree with experience in Oncology.
  • Travel: Ability to travel as needed, including overnight and weekend trips.

Language: Proficiency in French is an asset.
