Materials Planner in Airdrie, Alberta

Eaton’s ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Materials Planner. This position is based at our Airdrie, AB manufacturing facility.

What you’ll do:

Under the direction of the Materials Manager, the primary function of this role is to ensure an acceptable level of material availability to support the master production schedule. Additionally, this role will analyze, establish, and execute the planning, ordering, scheduling of material, including internally and externally sourced parts. The position also provides material support for the manufacturing and sale of products for site and satellite facilities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Review material status and provide ETAs to schedulers.

  • Attend escalation calls to resolve material shortage issues.

  • Provide timely updates of material status to production during daily production meetings.

  • Release POs from MRP workbench.

  • Analyze and reschedule POs to ensure material availability and control inventory levels.

  • Review E&O and slow-moving inventory to drive reduction through return, reuse, or scrap.

  • Review MRP exception messages and reschedule purchase orders to control inventory levels.

  • Periodically review demand history to adjust stocking policy and min-max levels.

  • Set up and maintain kanban cards.

  • Monitor and resolve supplier invoice issues.

  • Provide supplier forecasting information from forecast/schedules where required.

  • Plan and allocate materials based on prescribed methodology and provide timely delivery to customers.

  • Assist with cycle count, inventory adjustments, and root cause analysis to prevent inventory errors.

  • Support plant, lean, safety, quality, cost savings projects, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Manage and/or support supplier performance improvement objectives primarily around delivery or quality expectations.

  • Participate in annual physical inventory program.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution

  • Three years of experience in materials planning and procurement within a manufacturing environment

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship now or in the future

  • Must currently reside within an 80km radius of the working location to be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using an MRP system (Oracle)

  • Experience working in Design-for-Manufacturing or an Engineered-to-Order environment

  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma Tools, Six Sigma Green or Black belt

  • APICS certification or working towards

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (including Excel and Access)
