Master Thesis – Novel Catalyst-Coated-Membranes for Electrochemical Conversion of CO2 to CO

Your Job:

Driven by the shift of the energy sector towards renewable resources, the decarbonization as well as the electrification of industrial processes is a growing field of interest. Using CO2 as a feedstock to produce the platform chemical CO plays a vital role in this development. A wide range of innovative cell concepts are presented in literature. The aim is to increase the energy efficiency of this process by the development of innovative catalyst coated membranes. Your tasks include:

  • Preparation of catalyst inks and coating of membranes
  • Spectroscopic, physical and microscopic characterization
  • Experimental performance testing of the membranes
  • Combining and evaluation of experimental data

Your Profile:

  • Ongoing Master studies in process engineering, chemistry, physics or a comparable discipline
  • Basic knowledge in electrochemistry
  • Practical skills and interest in laboratory work
  • Motivated and independent way of working
  • Good communication and writing skills in German and English
