MASTER LECTURER POSITION IN SOCIAL WORK (ANGLOPHONE STREAM)

The School of Social Work in the Faculty of Education and Health at Laurentian University invites
applications from suitably qualified candidates for a master lecturer position in Social Work. The
preferred start date is July 1, 2024.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate level
courses in Social Work. Candidates should have a minimum of a Master degree in Social Work and
relevant teaching experience. A PhD is preferred. A commitment to excellence in teaching is essential.
The position requires the candidate to be able to teach in English on campus. The successful candidate
will have the following essential qualifications:
● Expertise in several of the following areas: direct practice, social policy and administration,
gerontology, mental health, substance use, practice with Francophone and newcomer
populations, people with disabilities, anti-racism practice, and Indigenous social work practice
● Demonstrated excellence in teaching or teaching potential at post-secondary levels (on
campus and/or on-line)
● Experience working collaboratively in a team environment and an enthusiasm for contributing
to the governance of the School
● Clear commitment to pedagogical excellence, promoting a safe, inclusive, and welcoming
learning environment, and advancing Laurentian University’s bilingual and tricultural
mandates
● An ability and willingness to engage in dismantling anti-Indigenous and anti-Black racism and
other oppressive practices that lead to social and health inequities
Experience and interest in mentoring and supporting graduate students is preferred. In addition to
active engagement and participation in teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to have an
on-campus presence, and make contributions through service to the School, Faculty, University, and
broader community.
Laurentian University, located on Atikameksheng Anishnawbek territory in Sudbury, Ontario, serves over
