Position Summary Bryant University seeks a Marketing Writer a to join the growing University Marketing and Communication team.
The Marketing Writer is responsible for researching, writing, and editing a variety of written communication and deliverables including—but not limited to—promotional copywriting, marketing, and website materials, institutional announcements, publications, multimedia scripts, social media copy, and other varied university needs to promote and elevate Bryant’s reputation. A member of the University Marketing + Communications (UMC) team the incumbent will focus on developing accurate, engaging, and persuasive content that is aligned with university goals, selected medium, and target audience.
This role requires an understanding of audience differentiation, the ability to adapt writing to specific purposes, as well as digital marketing skills in social media, email, and the web. This role must be able to adapt writing style and creative development to meet key business goals and align with the audience and channel-specific needs across platforms. This position requires strong project management and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong command of written storytelling techniques, as well as the ability to augment them with multimedia assets to elevate digital performance. This role works independently as well as alongside other members of the UMC team to elevate the University’s brand story and collaborates frequently with stakeholders throughout the college to develop persuasive content.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Writes and edits content across multiple channels, serving as a brand storyteller for Bryant University, its people, events, and initiatives. This includes writing many different forms of content—including news stories, print collateral (Viewbooks, brochures, etc.) electronic/digital communications, publications, presentations, social media content, newsletters, video scripts, etc.
  • Develops impactful content with compelling calls to action to grow positive awareness and drive web traffic/SEO, engagement, leads, and conversations. Ensures all content is on-brand, of consistent voice, grammatically correct, and connects with the audience.
  • Collaborates with multiple campus partners and cultivates strong relationships across campus. Partners with colleagues to develop strategic and intentional messaging to achieve high-quality deliverables. Has a keen sense of curiosity in finding story ideas and knows how to tease out content from a variety of sources.
  • Proactively seeks to communicate Bryant’s mission, vision, and culture to diverse audiences with the highest quality and effectiveness to demonstrate the University’s transformative impact on student lives. Work within the Marketing + Communications team to ensure that content is shared and repackaged for different media and across multiple storytelling channels. Recommends photography and videography to enhance content.
  • Analyzes content to optimize and improve the effectiveness as well as to distribute and leverage for maximum impact. Keeps current with best practices in marketing communications, including but not limited to search engine optimization, email marketing, content management, influencer marketing, etc.
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Qualifications This position is best filled by an individual with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or other relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of related professional experience. They must have diverse content development skills with experience writing for print, web, and social media channels. The candidate must have a solid understanding of written English and grammar as well as command of AP Style along with exceptional written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and collaboration skills. The individual will have the ability to write on deadline in a fast-paced environment with concurrent assignments and demonstrate comfortability in a fast-paced environment. Ability to excel both independently and in a team environment is a must. Familiarity with MS Office, social media and email marketing platforms, and blog and web content management systems; SEO best practices and techniques; email campaign platforms; project management software; and Web site content management system is required; experience with photography and videography is a plus.
