Support Staff Full-time Replacement Position

(First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements)

Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing, the Marketing Coordinator will play a significant role within Conestoga’s Marketing team by planning, coordinating, and executing the marketing activity for the Continuing Education (CE) and Corporate Training (CT) divisions of the college. This includes process management for the publication of the CE catalogue, the Distance Learning catalogue, the Corporate Training guide and numerous promotional flyers and advertisements throughout the year, intended to drive student registrations and college revenue. In consultation with management, web design and IT colleagues, the Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the management of CE and CT web content. With the escalating importance of digital media, the Marketing Coordinator will be well versed and experienced in the use of such media, including e-mail campaign development and deployment and social media (i.e. Facebook, YouTube and Twitter).

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement that requires work onsite at 3065 King Street, Kitchener one day per month. The incumbent will also be required to work additional days onsite from time-to-time to participate in various project-based client meetings, staff meetings, training and to assist during peak work periods. 

Responsibilities:

Process Project Management Major Publications

  • Establishing and publishing the CE planning schedule each semester
  • Reviewing catalogue proof-reading reports to identify data entry errors prior to catalogue extracts
  • With the guidance of the CEMC and Management, identifying the message/program focus for each catalogue and working with Graphic Designers to plan/schedule photography sessions and write student success stories/testimonials
  • In conjunction with Graphic Designers, guiding the design direction, coordinating the proofing, editing, and approving processes across all CE/CT divisions prior to publications advancing to print
  • Seeking and implementing catalogue improvement ideas, as well as identifying cost efficiencies throughout the process
  • Overseeing and coordinating the delivery of collateral materials on a timely basis through external vendors
  • Liaising with program coordinators, CE Chairs, CE Administration, Ontario Learn Administration, CT Advisors, and CE/CT Leadership

Website, E-Communication & Social Media

  • Working with Management and the Web Operating Team to ensure that web content is current, accurate, and effective in marketing Continuing Education programs and courses and Corporate Training Services
  • Creating and coordinating email campaigns to prospective CE students, leveraging email software tools, and targeted Corporate Training campaigns through the ORBIS CRM database
  • Developing social media content, monitoring active social media sites, and assisting with the integration of social media activity to meet CE & CT marketing goals
  • Keeping abreast of technology and bringing new ideas and products forward
  • Liaising with Alumni, Co-operative Education and Career Services, and Career Centre staff to seek mutually beneficial cross-promotion opportunities for CE and Corporate Training

Advertising & Promotion

  • Creating and advertising promotional copies for CE and CT marketing initiatives, including the development and placement of newspaper/magazine ads, radio ads, videos, program brochures/flyers, Public Workshop Schedules, and campus-specific communications
  • Assisting CE and CT staff with writing and editing promotional messages
  • Planning, managing, and reconciling the CE and Corporate Training marketing budget

Event Planning & Execution

  • In alignment with Marketing Management & CEMC, recommending annual events plans for Continuing Education and Corporate Training including Conestoga events (College Fair, Campus Open Houses, Student Orientation, etc.)
  • Coordinating and planning for materials and staffing events
  • Identifying new lead opportunities to appropriate individuals within the College

Qualifications:

  • Three-year diploma/degree in Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Advertising, or Communications
  • Five years of marketing/communications experience
  • Experience coordinating the release of major publications
  • Web/online and social media marketing experience
  • Sound understanding of the nature of continuing education, distance learning, corporate training, and academic needs of adult learners
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, with the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external audiences
  • Proven project management, organizational and time management skills
  • Self-disciplined and ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail and level of creativity
  • Comprehensive knowledge and excellent skills in Microsoft Office software applications
  • Student Information System (SIS) knowledge and experience preferred
  • Applied knowledge of social and digital marketing platforms, practices, and communities
  • Experience using and interpreting analytical tools, such as Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.
  • Incumbent must have access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel to multiple locations
