Marketing Cloud Administrator – Remote

Remote position 

This position is located in Ithaca, New York. The successful candidate will have the option to perform this role at a location of their choosing within the United States.  

The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State.

What you will do: 

As a member of the Cornell Central IT team, the Marketing Cloud Administrator will be a subject matter expert for our enterprise Marketing Cloud instance that will be connected to multiple Salesforce orgs at Cornell for the purpose of mass communication, lead generation, and fundraising. This position will provide guidance to Marketing Cloud power users across campus with advanced technical issues, CRM integration needs, and data management. The Marketing Cloud Administrator will also encourage best practices and assist with training and daily administration tasks.

What you will be: 

You are a person who is self-motivated to research and discover solutions that address complex business problems, drive efficiencies, and instill confidence in the underlying processes and data outcomes. You understand the practical applications and best practices of marketing and CRM technologies – such as digital marketing proficiency, subscriber data management, and channel management. You are able to work on multiple projects involving various end users, meet deadlines and proactively communicate status updates. You enjoy collaborating on projects and with teams. You are good at communicating technical concepts to marketing people and marketing concepts to technical staff members. You also enjoy participating in knowledge sharing, training, and mentorship. 

Additionally, you will have:  

Bachelor’s degree in marketing or information technology/computer science or related field and at least 5 years of Marketing Cloud experience (or similar marketing applications) or 5 years Salesforce experience with at least 3 years focused on Marketing Cloud (or similar marketing application); OR equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

You will also have:

  • Intermediate to expert level technical understanding of the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform (or similar marketing applications) including email, email templates, SMS, automations, journeys, data extensions, preference center, business units, forms, and integrations

  • Experience implementing a marketing solution across a large enterprise with many business units

  • Experience supporting the development of marketing and/or fundraising campaigns and leveraging the CRM system for these activities

  • A firm understanding of email marketing best practices and CAN-SPAM

  • Experience with SQL

  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS

  • Knowledge of email marketing and text messaging best practices

  • Experience with reporting tools (such as Tableau or Datorama) and analytics

  • Experience as a business analyst and project coordination

  • Detail-orientation with strong organizational, problem-solving, and logical thinking skills

  • Ability to work independently with little direction and multi-task while being productive and timely

  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies

  • Service orientation
