Manager/Senior Manager, Innovation and Technology Transfer

The Manager / Senior Manager reports to the Assistant Director within the Innovation and Technology Transfer (ITT) Division. He/she will ensure operational efficiency of the research collaboration process with the academic staff and corporate stakeholders. The officer is expected to recommend, negotiate, and secure the terms of research collaboration and licensing agreements, in particular, on IP ownership and licensing terms and explore ways to maximise the adoption of the Intellectual Properties that are created from the research projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate contracts, such as research collaboration and intellectual property (IP) licensing agreements
  • Manage and support the protection and disclosure of Intellectual Property (IP), including prior art searches for inventions, negotiating ownership and licensing fees
  • Identify and assess commercial potential of new inventions
  • Explore ways to maximise potential commercialization of SIT’s Intellectual Properties assets
  • Administer and manage information and activities relating to IP portfolios
  • Explore to enhance operational efficiency of research collaboration process and resolve any operational hurdles
  • Keep abreast of emerging technology to matchmake the needs of industry and public agencies against SIT’s intellectual properties generated from research and innovation outputs
  • Execute events and activities organized to foster industry collaborations for research and innovation.

Job Requirements

  • A good tertiary qualification in one or more of the following domains: engineering, healthcare (especially allied health), infocomm technology, food or biotechnology.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of direct experience in the Science and Technology sector, Innovation or Intellectual Property Management
  • Experience in drafting contracts, contract negotiation and technology licensing
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-moving environment
  • Able to effectively interact with SIT faculty, legal, and other corporate staff in a collaborative manner
  • Able to exercise good judgement and discretion in the performance of work assignments
  • Possess strong analytical skills with an eye-for-details
  • Have good organisational, problem-solving, persuasive writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Prior working experience in the IP management and technology transfer will be an advantage
