The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Manager, Research Support to work on the UHealth Campus. The Manager of the Behavioral, Community-based Research Shared Resource (BCSR) oversees all functions, operations and compliance of the core at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. This position provides guidance, leadership and day-to-day management of the core. The incumbent’s role is to facilitate the development and planning of a shared cancer center resource that supports Behavioral, Community-based Research Shared Resource.

  • Work closely with the Director to oversee aspects of BCSR functions.

  • Establish core policies and Standard Operating Procedures; develop and maintain research standards of the core. Oversee operations to ensure policies and procedures yield desired results.

  • Develop infrastructure and capacity of the BCSR Core as a shared resource providing services to investigators. This includes ensuring the shared resource has staff qualified to provide services, subcontracting or hiring for services not provided, developing, and maintaining constant relationships with clinical investigators and community partners about core services and potential research opportunities for partnership or participation.

  • Management of the BCSR activities, in compliance with guidelines for Cancer Center shared resources, including time accounting, billing, budget oversight, and supervision of BCSR staff.

  • Ensure all research duties/tasks performed by shared resource staff are implemented/performed as per the requirements of the protocol, sponsor requirements and guidelines, the federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice guidelines and UM policies and procedures.

  • Conduct monthly meetings with the core staff, and ensure functions are coordinated in a timely and accurate manner according to established guidelines.

  • Contribute to Cancer Center research initiatives that involve community and minority recruitment, disparities research, and other related projects. Participate in external events, including panels, conferences and trainings relevant to behavioral population and community research programs.

  • Build relationships with investigators and provide investigator training on new BCSR processes.

  • Train, develop and monitor work plans to ensure timely and high quality delivery of services by the BCSR staff (Research Associates and Support Specialists). Provide direct services on as appropriate. Monitor and ensure good data acquisition and data management processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                            

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge with aspects of study management, regulatory affairs and quality control principles.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to write proposals, act as a vendor liaison, make presentations to internal/external audiences or professional peers, and work closely with upper management.

  • Must have demonstrated leadership abilities and skills shown by successfully leading teams/groups in projects, and work assignments required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the diverse community of South Florida

  • Ability to work with faculty, staff and researchers to promote collaboration and integration of research activities

  • Knowledge of local organizations and ability to communicate and develop partnerships with diverse community partners and internal/external organizations

  • Ability to demonstrate self-directed and rational problem solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, organize, prioritize, and demonstrate flexibility in dealing with a variety of tasks on a daily basis.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other data applications software
