Summary
The Department of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX is seeking a Research Administration Manager. This role will manage the grants and contracts submission process and participate on the pre- and post-award management processes. The pre-award will be the primary focus and budgeting/post-award responsibilities will be a secondary focus. Amongst the key responsibilities will be successful submission of research grants, progress reports, and close out. Additionally, Research Administration Manager will oversee administrative and financial operations of a research studies and/or clinical trials. The department is desiring for research portfolio to grow. Identifying studies and assisting with patient recruitment will also be required.
Job Duties
- Engage in pre- and/or post- award grant management activities.
- Provide financial management and accountability, including developing budgets, monitoring budget and grant expenditures, reconciling accounts, financial reporting, and ensuring federal and institutional accounting standards are met.
- Responsible for establishing and implementing quality assurance and quality control measures/oversight and ensuring adherence to College policies and regulatory standards.
- Recruit, train, and supervise research administrative staff.
- Prepare grant and subcontract submissions internally (BRAIN) and externally (Sponsor sites).
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the pre-award and post award grants management process.
- Review and analyze current protocols, faculty-staff communication, and quality of the submission process.
- May make recommendations for process revisions and implement changes as appropriate.
- Review and approve grant applications, certifying summary data in the College’s electronic Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN) on behalf of the department.
- May contribute to the preparation of budgets for grant quarterly/biannual/annual reporting purposes.
- Prepare financial reports and track research mission financials for department leadership review for financial performance of grants and contracts.
- Ensure compliance with all guidelines.
- Prepare outgoing subcontracts and review incoming subcontracts.
- Work with the PIs to ensure timely submission of all required documentations. Assist on maintaining correct effort reporting. Manages timely invoicing for the studies and trials.
- Identify studies and assist with patient recruitment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Four years of relevant experience.
