Job Overview

The Management Department and the Operations, Business Analytics and Information Systems (OBAIS) Department in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati are seeking to hire a full-time Manager of Unit Operations. This position is responsible for managing financial reports and processes within the departments as well as performing accounting and administrative duties.  The Manager of Unit Operations supports multiple faculty, adjunct instructors, and doctoral students.  This position reports directly to the department heads in both the Management and OBAIS departments and is supported by an executive staff assistant.

Essential Functions

  • Manage, develop, implement, and assist with the administration of goals to achieve strategic objectives; assume management responsibility for a wide range of projects/tasks associated with primary business operations that have significant impact within the business function (e.g., training, website administration, etc.)
  • Provide leadership by serving as a unit resource, consultant and liaison for directors and administrators within the departments, as well as external offices and agencies to ensure conformity and compliance with operating procedures and university policies.
  • Manage the functions of the departments; develop internal procedures, implement quality improvement practices consistent with department goals and objectives; identify problems and recommend and implement solutions.
  • Analyze and interpret data; research, develop, edit and prepare documents and reports; resolve issues and render decisions in which quality of execution has significant impact within the manager’s area and influences service delivery. These reports include, but are not limited to information about student enrollment, course registration, technology services, and financial accounts.
  • Manage financial activities of departments; prepare and review activity reports for department invoices, expenses, and related activities; monitor and reconcile ledgers and budgets for the departments; update internal department manuals, guides, and similar documentation for using various financial systems.
  • Supervise one direct report, the executive staff assistant (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of relevant experience.
