About Research, Innovation and Commercialisation
Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC) is the central facilitator of research funding in the University, taking advantage of the full diversity of research funding opportunities. RIC operates University-wide across all ten Academic Divisions and Chancellery.
About the Role
As Manager, Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Initiatives, you will be a member of the Innovation and Enterprise (I&E) portfolio of RIC. The focus of your role is to support high-impact, large scale, translational health and medical research to attract funding from the MRFF and other competitive and non-competitive sources. The MRFF is a source of Federal funds to accelerate the translation of high-quality research through to meaningful health improvements for Australians.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate pre-award support of MRFF applications, providing leadership and management of the MRFF Initiatives team
- Lead the development of the MRFF project pipeline and develop initiatives to improve the number and quality of proposals
- Lead the development and coordination of specific major MRFF proposals, including identification of emerging funding opportunities, providing strategic advice, bid writing, and synthesis of contributed content
- Scan the MRFF and health and medical research funding and policy environment to forecast opportunities
About You
As the successful candidate, you will have exceptional communication skills, including the ability to build and manage relationships with a diverse range of individuals. Your high-level organisational and leadership skills and proven ability to plan and prioritise activities ensure you effectively complete tasks within deadlines. You also bring an enthusiastic, creative, and self-motivated approach and have a flexible, solutions-oriented attitude.
You will also have:
- Post-graduate qualifications in a relevant health and medical research-related discipline and/or equivalent mix of education and relevant experience
- Demonstrated significant experience coordinating and preparing project proposals, business plans or tender submissions associated with major funding opportunities in a translational research environment or relevant equivalent experience
- A record of success in supporting researchers to prepare winning proposals for major research projects and programs in a research, technology-rich or university environment
- A sound understanding of issues associated with knowledge and technology transfer and/or university-industry relations
