The Opportunity

With an extremely positive attitude and an exceptional customer service orientation, serve as the operations manager for the Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) Broadcast Production Facility and associated activities and productions, and as a resource for NSCM.

Responsibilities: 

  • Act as overall Operations Manager for NSCM Broadcast Production Facility. Coordinating all curricular and extra-curricular activities associated with Facility, faculty, staff, and students.

  • Create, maintain, administrate, and troubleshoot dedicated network systems including network switches, servers etc. for the NSCM Broadcast Production Facility data network, audio over IP and video over IP networks. 

  • Act as local IT and network services.

  • Monitor facility use and support and ensure effective and efficient execution of operations.

  • Supervise, schedule and manage NSCM’s Broadcast equipment checkout facility and approx. 15 staff: train equipment checkout personnel (student employees and OPS). Manages and support the checkout and inventory system.

  • Oversee the production of all video and multimedia production/content produced with NSCM’s Broadcast Production Facility.

  • Assist faculty with facility/classroom equipment to ensure a quality learning experience.

  • Act as Project Manager of multiple small and large projects for the Broadcast Production Facility and NSCM

  • Work with Senior Broadcast Technologist to research, plan, budget and develop proposals for funding, improvements, and enhancements such as new equipment purchases in the NSCM facility. Foster development of additional extracurricular activities for students inside and outside of the Broadcast Production Facility. Manage on-campus cable channel and web-based distribution of NSCM student content.

  • Develop partnerships with other, appropriate on and off campus units (e.g. School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD); Campus Activities Board (CAB); Office of Instructional Resources (OIR), UCF Athletics, etc.). Assist NSCM Advising by facilitating and providing access, tours, and information for prospective and transfer students and families within NSCM Broadcast Production Facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing students, staff, and classroom experience.

  • Knowledge and management of equipment.

  • Familiarity with grant writing and proposal development.

  • Master’s degree.
