Manager, Learning Design


Overview:
  • Full-time, Continuing position

  • Salary HEW 9 + 17% Superannuation

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, and hybrid ways of working

About You

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Learning Design and Development, you will be responsible for leading and managing digital Learning & Teaching (L&T) and academic development expertise and service to support the delivery of high-quality academic programs and courses that ensure quality student experiences. You will be expected to coordinate and lead teams to support course enhancement and program transformation initiatives that align with School, College and University priorities.

Additionally, you will provide leadership and expert advice in digital educational development, learning design and innovative pedagogies to enhance practice and outcomes in programs. You will work with members across the College L&T Group to engage cross-unit collaborative teams for undertaking projects.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Acknowledged expertise in pedagogical thinking, flexible learning approaches and innovative digital technologies to shape new learning experiences. 

  • Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring and training teams, encouraging an ‘agile’ mindset and best practice outcomes , and managing performance of staff.

  • Demonstrated experience of effectively leading complex education-based projects and programs with significant change impact in organisational operational excellence. 

  • Experience in the implementation of effective blended learning design frameworks. 

  • Demonstrated experience with implementing quality learning design processes to enhance student experience. 

  • Demonstrated ability to draw upon new and emerging technologies and practice for the effective application of innovative use of tools and learning and assessment pedagogies, including the building of academic capacity.

  • Substantial knowledge and experience design and the application of innovative strategies for products for diverse learner cohorts.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading large high performing teams.

  • Demonstrated outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and work as part of a diverse team and liaise and negotiate with a range of people to achieve agreed outcomes and reconcile different views. 

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.

About the Learning & Teaching Group (within College of Business and Law)

Program and Digital Development (within Learning & Teaching group) is a future-focused, discipline specific, program and course design and development (new and refresh); digital and blended learning; learning design.

  • Using student-centred principles and practices to create engaging, relevant

    and informative learning journeys. UX approach.
  • UX, SX and digital development in courses and programs.

  • Purposeful use of educational technology.

  • Program and course design and development including accessibility.

  • Curriculum, assessment and pedagogy consultation and evaluation.

  • Lead blended learning implementation in the College.
