Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Manager, Industry Engagement
to join Industry Engagement, Business Development Portfolio, Chancellery Division.

Manager, Industry Engagement (3 positions available)
The Office of Industry Engagement are seeking outstanding business development professionals with a strong track record of converting relationships into significant research funding and investment leading to real-world impact. These roles work closely and collaboratively with researchers and internal stakeholders across the university to build effective relationships focusing on a range of private and public sectors to grow QUT’s research capacity and facilitate knowledge transfer to industry. Expertise in research areas of focus may include medical technology, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry or the health sector more broadly; or the energy sector and clean energy technologies; or other areas of research aligned to QUT’s research strengths: https://www.qut.edu.au/research/our-research.

About the Chancellery Division

Chancellery Division is responsible for strategy, including Indigenous strategy, government relations and policy, assurance and risk, international, marketing and communications, and business development. The Chancellery Division is led by the Vice-Chancellor and President.

About the Department

The Business Development Portfolio provides university-wide coordination and stewardship of QUT’s engagement with industry, philanthropic and alumni communities. Led by the Vice-President (Business Development), the following areas fall within the Portfolio’s responsibility:

  • Office of the Vice-President (Business Development);
  • Industry Engagement;
  • Advancement; and
  • Alumni and Corporate Events.

What you need to succeed

This role will suit those who have exceptional relationship management and highly developed interpersonal skills to build and foster connections within QUT and with the wider community.

You will demonstrate:

  • Completion of a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline area or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Proven track record in establishing and maintaining long-term industry relationships and commercialisation activities across a related range of disciplines and activities.
  • Demonstrated ability in building strong and beneficial global partnerships, which enhance the university’s reputation.
  • Demonstrated experience or exposure to legal contracts and agreements with demonstrated understanding of commercial and Intellectual Property issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify funding opportunities and to build relationships with researchers and industry to meet research income targets.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills including the interpretation of policy, compliance, legislative and regulatory documents with an ability to balance the requirements of these with organisational objectives.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to effectively influence and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.

    Remuneration: $150,440 to $168,264 pa (HEW10) (inclusive of $127,124 to $142,185 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
