Manager, Individual Philanthropy – BRAC USA

Position description

BRAC USA operates in a hybrid work environment, with headquarters in New York City. This position is fully remote, with a preference for candidates located on the U.S. West Coast.

About the Position

BRAC USA seeks a collaborative, motivated candidate who brings strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to BRAC’s mission.

Reporting to the Director of Individual Philanthropy, the Manager, Individual Philanthropyplays a key role in supporting BRAC USA’s individual fundraising strategy and advancing its poverty alleviation programs. The Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of donors and prospects, supporting cultivation and stewardship activities, and contributing to fundraising initiatives that grow individual giving. This role emphasizes strong execution, relationship management, and collaboration across teams.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Management, Reporting, and Progress Tracking:

      • Manage a portfolio of mid-level individual donors and prospects, supporting cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities aligned with annual fundraising goals.
      • Maintain accurate donor and prospect records in Salesforce, including contact reports, moves, and next steps.
      • Use Salesforce reporting to monitor assigned portfolio activity and progress toward goals, and flag trends or gaps to inform next steps.
      • Use tools like Salesforce and iWave to identify and qualify new prospects, conduct donor research, and support pipeline development.

Individual Fundraising Strategy:

      • Support year-end fundraising efforts, including donor outreach, campaign coordination, and follow-up activities.
      • Assist in developing strategies to engage donors, connectors, and intermediaries (e.g., giving platforms, wealth advisors, philanthropic advisors).
      • Develop and implement, in close collaboration with the Corporate & Foundation team, strategies to build and grow employee giving programs, including partner engagement, process management, outreach, and promotion events.

Develop donor-centric written materials:

      • Draft donor correspondence, stewardship updates, and solicitation communications for assigned donors and campaigns.
      • Collaborate with Communications to develop donor-facing content, including case statements and campaign materials.
      • Draft longer-form donor materials such as reports, concept notes, letters of intent, and proposals for select relationships.

Manage donor trips and events:

      • Support donor cultivation and stewardship events, including dinners, receptions, briefings, and speaking engagements, as well as online events.
      • Assist with donor trips and site visits, including logistics coordination, scheduling, materials preparation, and follow-up actions.
      • Travel domestically for donor meetings and events; occasional international travel may be required.

Organizational Stewardship:

      • Model cultural competence and humility as a member of a multicultural team that works globally.
      • Model and support BRAC USA’s commitment to valuing and supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
      • Support BRAC USA’s engagement in OneBRAC initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

      • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in International Development or other related field.
      • At least six years of overall relevant professional experience or Master’s Degree plus four years of relevant professional experience or an equivalent combination of experience and skills.
      • At least two years of direct, major gift fundraising experience.
      • Experience working directly with senior leadership and philanthropists.
      • Experience in fundraising is required; a background in fundraising for a global development organization preferred.
      • Proficiency with Google Suite and MS Office. Experience with Salesforce and project management and collaboration platforms desired.

Preferred:

      • Familiarity with digital donor engagement tools, planned giving strategies, and board engagement.
      • Experience with design tools like Adobe InDesign or Photoshop, and collaboration platforms like Slack or Notion.

Required Skills/Abilities:

      • Proven experience in global development fundraising, including securing significant grants and partnerships or closely related fundraising contexts.
      • Strong understanding of the fundraising landscape, including trends, funding priorities, and bilateral, multilateral, and philanthropic strategies.
      • Experience working in the international non-profit sector.
      • Demonstrated skills in report and proposal writing.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence, with an ability to develop and maintain long-term, productive relationships internally and externally, in addition to cross-cultural sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding.
      • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with initiative.
      • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues on diverse teams, both in-person and remotely, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
      • Excellent communication, writing and editing skills.
      • Excellent project management skills.
      • Highly organized, strategic thinker with strong attention to detail.
      • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high intensity work environment.
      • Proactive team player with a strong desire to learn and ability to be flexible.

Work Environment & Travel

      • Fast-paced, mission-driven work environment with multiple priorities.
      • Some travel required, including international travel to BRAC programs.
      • Flexible work hours to accommodate global collaboration across time zones.

Compensation & Benefits

BRAC USA offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a base salary, medical/dental/vision insurance, FSA, life insurance, 401 (k), an annual professional development stipend, and generous paid time off. Note that some benefits are subject to a waiting period, more information can be provided to shortlisted applicants upon request.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
