We are currently seeking to appoint a Manager, Health and Safety to provide leadership, oversight, and management of a safe, healthy and sustainable work environment for staff, students and visitors of the Faculty.
Your experience will include knowledge and understanding of contemporary OHS legislation and practice and management expertise in areas including Emergency, Critical Incident, and Business Continuity Planning.
The role will also act as a health, safety and space representative for the Faculty on any key internal infrastructure projects.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead with values, ethics and emotional intelligence to grow team resilience, inclusion and performance and sets clear standards of expected behaviour and celebrate and reward outstanding performance
- Conceptualise local plans in alignment with University strategies and monitor progress and risks, adapts personal and team priorities and plans as required
- Analyse problems, weigh up a range of options to identify accessible and inclusive solutions and translate complex issues into clear and understandable goals and targets for Deakin
- Actively encourage and coach others to question traditional assumptions, promotes ideas and review practices and policies and translate into workplace improvements
- Establish systems and procedures to guide work and track progress and strive for excellence and continually evaluate progress and effectively overcomes barriers to achieve outcomes
- Discuss and understand broad constructs rather than concrete examples and implement solutions, evaluate effectiveness and adjust actions as required
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and management expertise; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education training
- Experience and management expertise in Emergency, Critical Incident, Business Continuity Planning and security processes
- Experience as an OHS Consultant providing OHS advice on a broad range of matters in a complex and diverse work environment
- Knowledge and understanding of contemporary OHS legislation and practice including experience in accident investigation, hazard identification, assessment and control in a complex multifaceted organisation
