Job Summary The Faculty of Medicine inspires and enables excellence in health care through its medical education and research programs, and by serving and engaging society. Reporting to the Executive Director, Advancement, Faculty of Medicine, the Manager, Alumni Engagement and Donor Relations plays a primary role in the success of the Engagement Development Model (EDM) for the Faculty. The position is dedicated primarily to early-stage relationship cultivation and development of affinity to the Faculty of Medicine, the Alumni Association and the University. This work is guided by the University’s strategic priorities, priorities of the Faculty as set out by the Dean and the priorities of the Dalhouise Medical Alumni Association (DMAA).
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate Faculty-based alumni, donor, student and community engagement plans, programs and events.
  • Build and maintain relationships between alumni, the DMAA, faculty, staff, students and friends of the Faculty of Medicine at regional, national and international levels.
  • Develop, implement and manage an annual strategic alumni plan. Ensure strategic communications and marketing for the Faculty’s engagement .
  • Work closely with the Dalhousie Medical Alumni Association volunteer board on alumni programming.
  • Meet regularly with representatives from Faculty of Medicine Student Societies to provide support and guidance on their annual and special events and initiatives.
  • Lead the Faculty in managing community engagement activities.
Note The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant area of study and a minimum of three years’ experience in a related business, marketing, public relations, or communications role (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Well-developed skills in oral communications, writing and editing.
  • Significant experience in event management including planning and implementation.
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point) and the ability to work with data sets.
  • Strong capabilities with digital platforms, social media best practices, contact management programs, digital communications, and the ability to analyze effectiveness within these areas.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently and collaborate with others.
  • Must be highly organized with excellent time management, goal setting and problem-solving skills.
Assets
  • Experience working with alumni / donor databases or a knowledge of databases.
  • Experience working in a large, complex environment
