The Manager, Clinical Education, is a key manager role within Cancer Care AB reporting to the Senior Program Lead, Provincial Systems Programs and Performance. This role is a clinical program leader with experience in clinical cancer care and clinical education. Cancer Care AB completed a detailed strategy for enhancing Clinical Education across the province. The Manager, Clinical Education works with a high degree of independence and in concert with the Manager, Quality, Safety and Program Integration and the Senior Program Lead, Provincial Systems Programs and Performance to develop and implement a detailed action plan for implementing the clinical education strategy. Key areas of responsibility include: 1. Coach, support and provide day to day leadership for the clinical education team. 2. Lead the development of workforce plans for Clinical Education within Cancer Care Alberta. 3. Lead provincial wide clinical education initiatives. 4. Support and champion innovative or emerging education delivery methods that support operational leaders and front line. 5. Collaborate with operational teams to evaluate and strategize on team activities and processes inclusive of reallocation of work dependent on site needs and priorities.
Description:
The Manager, Clinical Education is responsible for analyzing and evaluating all provincial clinical education programs for Cancer Care AB. The Manager, Clinical Education, will plan and determine allocation of resources, authorizes and controls expenditures to allocated budgets. This leadership role will also support the clinical education team by mentoring, coaching, and developing team skills including project management and change management as required. This key leadership role will be responsible for effective management of the Clinical Education portfolio including: Coordination and development of measurable service/program goals and education outcomes. Working closely with the Clinical Informatics Team to support the adoption and optimization of CIS changes in collaboration with staff and providers. Collaborating with operational leaders on optimizing clinical education service including identifying and actioning areas for improvement. Working closely with provincial and national regulatory and educational bodies and unions to enhance clinical education service model. The Manager, Clinical education will also be able to initiate, implement, and support new or modified approaches including multi-modality adult learning practices, and processes. This position will work closely with clinical operations to drive the implementation of the Clinical Education strategy and will be accountable to transform the strategy recommendations into clear implementation activities. This will include engaging key stakeholders to understand the impact on internal and external teams as well as to manage risks and benefits accordingly. This position will also participate in decision-making, policy setting, strategic planning and problem solving as part of the leadership team of the Provincial Systems Programs and Performance portfolio within Cancer Care AB.

Required Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Health Sciences, Nursing or Education. Minimum 3 years experience in leadership, program management, or clinical education. Clinical experience in Oncology care. Experience in program management and applying project management methodology. Excellent interpersonal, coaching skills, negotiating, facilitation and written/verbal communication skills. Proven effective communication and presentation skills, analytical skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Three to five years experience in leading change or clinical education. Familiarity with the Alberta Health care system. Experience leading unionized staff.
