Your Responsibilities
What you’ll do

As a trainee ACP in Major Trauma you will work alongside the existing Nurse Practitioners and ACP’s in coordinating the care of the Major Trauma patients at University Hospital Southampton (UHS).  As trainee ACP you will be part of a large multidisciplinary team involved in the care of Major Trauma Patients including, but not limited to; medical staff, nurses, therapists paramedics and managers.

As a trainee ACP you will be required to undertake your MSc Advanced Clinical Practice.  The Trust will support you in undertaking this.  Once completed and you are able to demonstrate achievement of the competencies required for full ACP role, transition to ACP will be encouraged.

What we’re looking for

As you develop in the role, or as a qualified Major Trauma ACP you will use advanced clinical, analytical and decision-making skills to assess the needs of patients admitted under the criteria of major trauma from admission via ED, throughout their entire stay up until and including the coordination of their rehabilitation until transfer / discharge.  You will ensure the continuity of care for the patient and their family and offer advice and support to them and ward teams, acting as the expert in Major Trauma care and advising on the most suitable treatment when required.

This diverse yet challenging role will see you work as part of a collaborative team across professional, departmental and Trust boundaries as you develop and support seamless patient-centred care.
