| Job Summary | Provides journeyman-level skills in the repair, resetting and installation of locking devices and the manufacture of keys. Locksmiths are responsible for repairing, rebuilding, and resetting locks and for cutting keys for locks in buildings, cabinets, and lockers. The Locksmith is responsible for installing, repairing, rekeying and master keying most door locks on campus. |
| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |

| Required Qualifications | High school diploma or (GED) and three years of experience as a journeyman locksmith. Hold and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license with no serious violations. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Must have three years of comprehensive experience in the repair, rekey and installation of locks, and keys including knowledge of SFIC (Small Format Interchangeable Core). Be proficient in computer skills, and the ability to use various Windows-based programs. Read emails and respond, open and close Work Orders from a computer-based Work Order system. Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative. Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate with students, faculty, staff, and the Administration. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Proficiency in all phases of duties and responsibilities to be performed. |
| Working Conditions | May work in all weather conditions and extreme temperatures. May work around chemicals and chemical fumes, standard office conditions, biohazards, and electrical and mechanical hazards. Use of manual dexterity and key cutter, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting and moving. |
