Are you looking for an entry-level laboratory technician role, with a supportive team working on an exciting project working with children to inspire them to live healthier lives?

We are advertising a maternity cover role for an entry-level technician to support the delivery of the LifeLab programme.

LifeLab is a hospital-based classroom providing innovative and inspiring activities to encourage teenagers to make informed choices about their health-related behaviour, as well as generating an interest in science and health as future study or career options. The successful candidate will work alongside our LifeLab Lead Technician in a handover period until the maternity leave period starts, and will then work with the support of the LifeLab team. The role involves supporting the delivery of the laboratory-based health and science education activities at the LifeLab laboratory facility – arranging booking of coaches, ensuring consumables/activities are prepared and set up for school days, supporting the delivery of teaching activities during LifeLab school days. The successful candidate will support the management and coordination of the “Meet the Scientist” portion of the LifeLab activity days.

The post holder will be expected to work as part of a small, friendly team, good team working skills are essential and a commitment to the University’s ideas of collegiality. Training for specific laboratory tasks will be provided, after which they will be expected to operate with minimal supervision.

A enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
