Salary Information Salary is dependent on experience with a minimum of $33,660.00.

The Access Services Department promotes and provides access to the collections of the UNT Libraries. As part of the Public Services Division, we strive to meet the information and research needs of library patrons through the services we offer.

Position Overview The University of North Texas Libraries’ Access Services Department is seeking to hire a User Accounts Manager to join our Library User Services Unit. This position works collaboratively with other members of the unit to connect library patrons with the information, services, and collections they need. Main areas of responsibility include managing library patron accounts using the Sierra Integrated Library System, assisting with student assistant management, and managing daily department financial operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and one year of progressively responsible library experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Extensive knowledge of library principles and policies, and knowledge of specialized area functions and workflows.
• Experience in working effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
• Ability to utilize multiple computer applications toward increased productivity in a rapidly changing environment.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Knowledge of safe working procedures and security measures related to work performed.

Job Duties

o Manages library patron accounts including creating accounts, record retention, managing UNT Libraries’ participation in the TexShare program, and providing oversight for the processing of TexShare, community, and other special patron accounts.
o Assists with supervision of Circulation service area workflows, suggests areas where service desk workflows can be streamlined, suggests staffing levels for the service desk.
o Shares responsibilities of Service Desk student assistant management with Service Desk Manager. Communicates with Library User Services unit staff to share issues and ideas for improvements.
o Completes daily department financial operations in compliance with UNT cash handling and PCIDSS guidelines. Completes daily deposits, oversees the completion of daily fines desk opening and closing procedures, and processes refunds.
o Processes lost and damaged item fees. Handles patron claims and fine disputes. Creates payment plans.
o Notifies patrons of overdue and billed materials. Monitors recalled items.
o Provides training to department staff and student employees on user accounts and fines services.
o Sets goals and priorities for the user accounts and fines services for each year. Assesses related procedures and workflows and suggests relevant policy changes. Ensures that manuals and webpages stay up to date. Compiles user accounts and fines statistical reports.
o As a member of the Library User Services Unit, contributes to planning and implementation of unit projects. Works collaboratively with other Library User Services Unit employees on projects. Participates in discussions to assess and improve services and workflows and address perceived issues.
o Provides user and access services to library patrons. Services include circulation, patron accounts, payments, research assistance, troubleshooting technology issues, and other departmental tasks.
