Library Information Administrator (Collections)

UWE Bristol are one of the largest universities in the South West and one of the largest employers in the Bristol region. We currently have an opportunity for a Library Information Administrator in our Library Service, on a fixed term basis.

About the vacancy: This role is based in the library’s book management section of the team and is a key role with specific duties administering the procurement of information resources, dealing with orders and invoices for a large portfolio of content.

As well as working with our Library Management System and University finance system, an important element of the role involves liaising with colleagues across Library Services as well as others such as the University Finance department and external suppliers.

You will also contribute to the overall work of both the book management team in supporting students to seamlessly access our substantial print and electronic collections, and the wider Collections Team; for example maintaining statistics, working on implementing new working processes or systems, and supervising and supporting staff across the team.

This is a great time to be joining us with the opportunity to help shape future service delivery, as we have recently implemented a new Library Management System (Ex Libris Alma and Primo).

About you: To be successful in this post you will need excellent communication skills, and the ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues as well as external stakeholders such as resource suppliers and publishers.

You should also have good IT skills and aptitude and be confident in exploring digital tools and systems, to make accurate and effective use of computerised office systems including Microsoft Office and the Library Management System.

You should be self-motivated, able to organise and prioritise your own work to meet agreed timeframes while maintaining a flexible and adaptable approach to duties in a changing library environment.

This post is in a team-based environment so it important that you enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues and maintain a positive attitude and deliver high standards of customer service.

Where will I be working?

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed – £300m has been invested in new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation while we continue to develop incredible new facilities  to enhance our offer even further.

Frenchay campus has excellent transport links ; as well as being located near the motorway network we are within walking distance of two train stations , our bus terminus connects us to the local bus and metrobus network and we also have a range of cycling and changing facilities.

This is a permanent post, working 15 hours per week on Thursdays and Fridays.

The University is currently trialling hybrid working, allowing staff to combine on-campus and remote working where business needs allow. 

In LCI we expect everyone to spend more of their time working from our campuses than remotely. In this role you can expect to be campus based for the majority of your time with regular opportunity for hybrid working as agreed with your line manager in line with our business needs. 

The University’s normal practice is that new appointments will be made at the starting point of the grade.
