Position Overview
This is an in-person 0.5 FTE (20 hours/week) position. This position reports to the Technical Services Manager and performs library tasks in acquiring, organizing, preserving, delivering or interpreting information resources that support either a specific or a range of library processes and the fulfillment of faculty and student information needs. May work at the public service desk as needed. Responsibilities may range from well-defined and highly-structured to multifaceted with independent judgment in developing work sequences. Many of the job duties require collaboration with various other law school departments. May assist Technical Services Manager in supervision of student employees.
Job Description
80% – Technical Services and Acquisitions: Create and maintain holding and item records in Voyager Integrated Library System; Oversee and process new resources for inclusion in collection; Find and import bibliographic records from OCLC; Review and maintain electronic resource accessibility, expenditures, statistics, and title counts; Maintain Reserve and Personal Reserve collections and others as needed; Check-in, create, enter, approve, and record new POs; assist with coding invoices for payment and statistical reporting; Perform data entry in Voyager Acquisitions module and internal expenditure tracking devices; Verify resource and periodical receipt against invoices received; Liaise with resource vendors; assist with recording and tracking statistics; Assist with adding materials to and preservation of Legal History Collection; assist Technical Services Manager with review of monthly budget reports ; Assist in supervision of technical services student assistant; Perform copy cataloging and related cataloging tasks as needed; Ensure compliance with fiscal rollover procedures.
20% – General Administrative Assignments: Assist Technical Services Manager and Circulation & Serials Manager as needed; Cover shifts at the public services desk as needed; Order supplies as needed; assist with creation of the New Resource List; assist with preparation of disaster planning materials for the law library; Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Flexible scheduling, coordinated with Technical Services Manager and Assistant Director for Public & Technical Services, generally available with some exceptions for required events and/or desk shifts.
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree
2. Two-years of library or related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
1. Related experience in library technical services and acquisitions, including demonstrated knowledge
of library accounting and experience in operations of library services
2. Demonstrated experience serving patrons at library service desk
3. Excellent organization skills with the capacity for effective management of simultaneous responsibilities and processes
4. Working knowledge of Voyager Integrated Library System
5. Bachelor’s degree in Information Studies or related field and/or courses completed toward MLIS degree
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated in application materials
