Legal Assistant – Trusts and EstatesOur client is a leading mid-sized law firm with offices nationwide, with a specific focus on the east coast. They are currently seeking a full time, experienced Legal Assistant for their Uniondale office to assist attorneys within the Trusts and Estates practice. This is a hybrid role and candidates will be in the office 3 days a week/2 days remote from 9am-5pm with the flexibility to work overtime when needed.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Keeping cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; entering information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with attorney.
  • Answering telephone calls; maintaining client contact; scheduling meetings,
  • Assisting attorneys with creating, formatting, and revising retainer letters and other legal documents.
  • Straight typing, proofreading work for accuracy prior to returning to attorneys.
  • Maintaining attorney schedules.
  • Entering attorney time using Expert Time.
  • Submitting expense and reimbursement reports using Chrome River.
  • Managing and prioritize incoming email and correspondence.
  • Scanning and e-mailing documents.
  • E-Filing
  • Attending Will signings
  • Exhibiting patience, empathy, and professional maturity at all times.
  • Demonstrating an attitude of cooperation with legal staff, peers, and administrators.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have a minimum of 5+ years of law firm experience and a background in the areas of Trusts and Estates.
  • Be proactive and able to assist with the preparation of legal documents, including Wills, Trusts, Health Care Proxies, Living Wills and Powers of Attorney and provide attorneys with administrative support.
  • Candidate should enjoy working with clients and their families and pride themselves on attention to detail and organization.
  • Be able to type 55+ wpm and have excellent spelling, grammar and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and work both independently and as a team member.
  • Experience with NetDocs a plus.

The ideal candidate is a team player, comfortable with emerging technology, and willing to take on new challenges and increasing their skill set.
