Lecturers in Criminology, Sociology and Social Policy

University of Liverpool

Following the appointment of the School¿s Dean, Professor Valsamis Mitsilegas, in September 2022 and supported by investment from the University, the School of Law and Social Justice at the University of Liverpool (consisting of the Liverpool Law School and the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology) is inviting applications for up to 20 academic (teaching and research) appointments. We are seeking to appoint outstanding scholars at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer levels.  Informed by the School¿s values and commitment to social justice, successful candidates are expected to develop research synergies within and outside the School, to excel and innovate in education at UG and PG levels, to contribute to the development of the School¿s PGT portfolio, and to actively promote the School¿s civic, community and international outreach.

While applications are invited by outstanding scholars with expertise in any of the core areas of strength in the School, we are particularly interested in strengthening our research base in the broad area of sociological criminology, both in the core components that include gender/sexuality and crime, corporate crime/modern slavery, criminal justice, victimology, youth crime, policing, comparative and historical criminology, night-time economy and cybercrime, among others, as well as the new and emerging perspectives of green, queer and southern criminology, indigenous perspectives and zemiology. Strength in quantitative methods/quantitative criminology is desirable for at least one of the posts and a commitment to social justice will be complementary to the strong social justice legacy and programmes of research for which the department is renowned.

The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received
