Lecturer (Sports)

Manchester MetropolitanUniversity has made a strategic investment in sportsresearch and education, including the creation of the SportPolicy Unit in the Faculty of Business and Law, and a new Institute of Sport, which opened in September 2022. The SportPolicy Unit (SPU) currently consists of 15 full-time staff, one of the largest concentrations of teaching and research expertise in the social science study of sport in the UK. The SPU made a significantcontribution to the success in the recent UK Research Excellence Framework (REF), where ‘sport’ at MMU was ranked 6th on Research Power.

To complement our existing areas of expertise, we are seeking to add to the current staff by employing a fixed-term lecturer on a 0.6 FTE basis for 8 months in any specialist area of Sports Marketing, SportsManagement, Sports Politics and/or Policy. You will have a, or be close to completing a, PhD in a relevant topic. You will be joining an exceptional

team that has expertise in sportspolicy and politics more broadly, sports marketing, sponsorship, economics and law. We are actively engaged in national and internationalresearchrelationships and projects, including with UK Sport, the Rugby League World Cup, Manchester City FC, La Trobe University and Tokyo 2020.
