Āu Mahi What You Will Do
UC’s Ilam School of Fine Arts is looking for an experienced academic/artist to be a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sculpture. In this position, you will deliver high quality teaching to our sculpture students, supervise Honours, Masters and PhD students, produce high calibre research outputs and assist with administrative duties within the School and Faculty.

Mōu Who You Are
To be successful in this position, you will be active in research/building your research portfolio, scholarship and creative work. You will also have the following:

• Master’s Degree or equivalent (NZQA Level 9), preferably a Master of Fine Arts.
• A sophisticated knowledge of contemporary art practice, with a particular understanding of contemporary sculpture practice and its historical antecedents.
• An appreciation of the cultural and artistic contexts of Aotearoa/New Zealand and how these relate to a global arts network/discourse.
• An ability to discuss, practice and operate across a diverse set of art practices/disciplines.

Successful candidates will have a MFA or PhD in Creative Practice or equivalent field and a strong exhibition and publication record and an active research agenda; teaching experience; and be able and willing to contribute to the School and professional service activities.

You will be comfortable in working situations that require adaptability as we transform our teaching via judicious use of digital technology, and have an open-minded viewpoint that respects biculturalism, diversity, and inclusion.

Mātai Kōwaiwai The School of Fine Arts offers a boutique-style education in both the practical field of fine arts and the wider liberal arts. The salary for this position is Lecturer (2.01 – $82,882) to Senior Lecturer (4.05 – $120, 514)
