We are ranked 1st in Asia for Employer Reputation in the QS World University Rankings (Materials Science 2022).  To further improve the educational experience of our students the Materials Science and Engineering department at the National University of Singapore MSE department is seeking qualified candidates Lecturer or Senior Lecturer positions.

Salaries are globally competitive and commensurate with experience. International lecturers also qualify for highly subsidized housing as well as generous relocation expenses. Successful candidates will also have the resources to engage in educational research and participate in international pedological conferences. 

Responsibilities
Education 
1.    Facilitate and conduct all teaching assignments at both Bachelors and Masters levels; both face-to-face and virtual delivery.
2.    Typical teaching load will be circa 4 full modules per year; including project supervision.
3.    Introduce new undergraduate laboratory experiments to make these more attractive to students.
4.    Develop, design and continuously improve curriculum plans, course outlines, evaluation procedures and instruments to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensure student engagement.
5.    Mentor students on both academic and non-academic matters
6.    Any other assigned duties
Service:
1.    Work with outreach efforts in raising awareness of the impact of MSE as a top degree and career choice through engagements with local high schools and junior colleges
2.    Formulate and act on plans to increase diversity and a better gender balance in the student cohorts.
3.    Work closely with the department management team to develop new programs and alumni engagements to make MSE a top degree choice for undergraduate/graduate students
4.    Provide ad hoc admin support on student matters when necessary

Qualifications

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

•    A PhD in Materials Science & Engineering or a related discipline.
•    Appointments at the Senior lecturer level will be expected to show leadership by sharing their teaching and educational contributions in appropriate ways so as to improve institutional practice.  
•    Experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage: Artificial Intelligence methods for materials; materials for energy & sustainability; microelectronics or quantum materials; and materials characterization 
•    Teaching experience including planning, conducting, assessing, and evaluating courses is an advantage
•    Has an interest in student learning and expertise in a range of teaching and learning strategies, such as flipped learning and team-based learning
•    Genuine interest in student learning and engagement and be keen to work with flipped classroom methods, team-based learning, and assessment for learning
•    Possess a teaching philosophy that promotes lifelong learning and future-ready skills.
•    Has the commitment to preparing MSE@NUS graduates for Industry 4.0.
