Base Salary from $113,184 (Level B) or $138,645 (Level C) pro-rata + 17% superannuation + additional clinical loading
About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Internal Medicine to contribute to the School’s postgraduate coursework program in Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine). In this role, you will play a central role in the development and delivery of teaching in units of study in the Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) degree. This education-focused role is a specialised category of academic engagement for talented educators with a passion for, and demonstrated excellence in, pedagogical practice.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
develop, revise, coordinate, deliver and assess online, face-to-face and intensive teaching components of the relevant units of study in the Internal Medicine and contribute to other teaching across Master of Medicine programs. You will be supporting the Program Director of the Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) course in this role.
contribute to the coordination, delivery and assessment of online, face-to-face and intensive components of other relevant units of study and short courses in other relevant pathways of the Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) program
ensure effective and timely delivery of teaching and learning activities, and maintain excellent teaching performance
assist other Unit of Study Coordinators in identifying student capstone activities and opportunities for students in the Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) as a part of the capstone unit for the Master’s program
participate in departmental activities including monthly meetings, marketing visits, and open days
assist in student support and monitoring academic integrity, conduct and discipline of students according to University policies.

About you
We are looking for a Lecturer who has:
a medical degree with clinical experience in Internal Medicine
postgraduate qualifications in Medicine (FRACP)
a sound understanding of adult learning principles and the pedagogic approaches relevant to the implementation of interdisciplinary, inter-professional collaborative environment
knowledge across a range of medical specialties
demonstrated skills in instructional design, evidence-based resource development for on-line and face-to-face delivery and selection and development of a range of assessment tasks
demonstrated ability to provide effective, timely and excellent teaching practice
excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills, particularly in the context of students in both face-to-face and on-line modalities
awareness and maintenance of professional and ethical issues of practice in a variety of cultural, social, ethnic and workplace situations
proven ability to work as a member of a team in a highly demanding environment and ability to develop and maintain collaborative academic (education and research) networks
excellent administrative skills and computer literacy.
educational qualification or a willingness to undertake the Graduate Certificate in Education Studies (Higher Education) or a comparable course/Fellowship in teaching and learning.
A Senior Lecturer would be expected to
publish educational or medical disciplinary research in peer-reviewed journals or equivalent (for example, textbooks or teaching resources)
present at local or national conferences on medical education and research
contribute to the research, education, and administrative activities of the discipline/ School/ Faculty
seek funding for projects aimed at exploring pedagogical innovation and/or enhancing student learning and teaching outcomes
play a leadership role in education within the School/Faculty, including contributing to the development and realisation of the School/ Faculty educational strategy
make a significant and holistic contribution to the education and administrative activities of the School/ Faculty (at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level)
contribute to governance within their School/ Faculty/ University (e.g. through participating on committees, membership of Academic Board or administrative roles in centres or institutes)
provide mentoring and guidance to academics within the School/ Faculty, building their learning and teaching capacity.
