Post Title: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management 

SBU/Department: School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science – Department of Engineering

FTE: 1.0fte (working 37 hours a week)  

Duration of Contract: Permanent 

Salary: UH7 Lecturer £37,099 to £44,263 pa dependent on skills and experience/

UH8 Senior Lecturer £44,263 to £56,021 pa dependent on skills and experience

Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year 

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield 

Main duties and responsibilities

Teaching, Learning and Assessment

To undertake teaching and assessment in engineering and technology modules, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in Manufacturing Technology & Management, Advanced Manufacturing and all areas within Supply Chain Management e.g. procurement, logistics, transportation etc. Support learning through the design and development of course materials, including online content, as well as undertaking necessary tutorial, laboratory and administrative activities. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects.

Research & Commercial

Make a significant contribution to the research and commercial interests of the School. Develops short courses, commercial and KTP related activities in the School. Contribute to the supervision of postgraduate research projects (e.g. MSc(Res), EngD and PhD). Expected to engage in research and commercial consultancy activity in the relevant field; the role also includes the building of partnerships with external organisations for the purpose of sponsorship and knowledge transfer activities.

Administration

To carry out appropriate administrative (non-teaching) duties assigned to the post holder by the Dean of School, Head of Department or nominee.

Additional for Senior Lecturer Level:

To undertake an administrative role in the School such as Module Leadership, assisting with programme management, or other similar duties. To provide leadership in an aspect of research or commercial activities, or other similar duties. To undertake other duties within the framework of the post as delegated by the Head of Department or Head of Subject Group.  

Skill and experience required

Experience of working in at least 2 or more of the key areas of:

•       Manufacturing Technology & Advanced Manufacturing

•       Manufacturing Management

•       Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics

•       Project Management

Qualifications required

For UH7 Minimum of a first degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant Engineering or closely related subject area. 

For UH8:  Minimum of a first degree (or equivalent qualification) and a Masters degree (or equivalent qualification) qualification in a relevant Engineering or closely related subject area, OR  An integrated Masters degree (such as an MEng or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering or closely related subject area.
