Education in healthcare is a complex business. Not only do we need to create and deliver learning opportunities that support patient focused, modern health care practices but we also need to be learner centred, interdisciplinary and flexible in our approach in order to continue to attract busy professional learners.

Here, at the Dundee Centre for Medical Education we do all that and more within our internationally known medical education courses and we are successfully growing our student numbers very quickly. In order to optimize and expand on our success, we are looking for an enthusiastic committed and versatile new Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to join us here in Dundee.

As a successful candidate you will be joining a rapidly expanding team of medical educators delivering innovative courses to high achieving students with a diverse range of backgrounds from all over the world. Most of the teaching is delivered on-line however some is face to face and in addition the Centre delivers Masterclass teaching and consultancy in a range of international locations, and you would be invited to contribute to these programmes.

Your priorities will include:

• To contribute to the development of the face-to-face (in Dundee and overseas) and distance online learning courses leading to Certificate, Diploma and Masters degree
• To support/lead the development/revision of selected online learning modules relating to the Certificate and Diploma programme
• To provide educational advice/support for all modules within the CME programmes
• To support University of Dundee partnership working with stakeholders to develop modules for postgraduate programmes in relation to current educational practice
• To contribute to the teaching and assessment of students registered for the face-to-face (in Dundee and overseas) and distance learning programmes
• To contribute to/lead in the development of UK and internationally based short courses in medical education
• To lead in supporting the development and delivery of the CME postgraduate curricula and contribute to the undergraduate medical school courses and associated assessments depending on areas of interest and expertise
• To supervise and mentor research students including providing Masters, PhD/MD and post-doctoral research supervision where appropriate
• To contribute to educational research within CME, across the School of Medicine and School of Education and Social Work and the wider University as a whole

• Postholder(s) may also be expected to travel overseas to deliver on teaching

Who we’re looking for:

The successful candidate will possess either a Masters Degree in Medical Education (preferred) or a Masters in Education and / or MD or PhD in Education (or relevant discipline). Evidence of competence in the principles and delivery of assessment and/or experience of educational evaluation/knowledge translation is essential as is experience of a research project or audit supervision at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level(s) along with an understanding of the Centre for Medical Education’s postgraduate delivery model.
