About This Opportunity 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to focus their efforts on developing their record in teaching or leveraging their established record of achievement in teaching (including clinical teaching, where appropriate), research and service and engagement. As part of the new Team-Based Learning program in the new MD program, this important role of MD Learning Facilitator will be crucial to enhancing the student experience in teaching, learning and assessment.

At Level B, this position will allow a Lecturer to focus their efforts on growing their profile in teaching, the scholarship of teaching and service and engagement. As a teaching focused academic at level B the incumbent may coordinate or lead the activities of other staff and will usually have some involvement in scholarship of teaching and learning projects.

A Senior Lecturer in this position will focus their efforts on leveraging their established record of achievement in teaching (including clinical teaching, where appropriate), research and service and engagement.

At Level C, the incumbent may coordinate or lead the activities of other staff and is expected to have an active and effective record of scholarship of teaching and learning in medical education and a national profile in the discipline.

About the Greater Brisbane Clinical School

Located within the UQ Medical School, the Greater Brisbane Clinical School is organised around eight clinical units and a learning hub, each led by a senior academic clinician to ensure our teaching has a strong presence in our principal teaching hospitals and key teaching sites. Teaching and research is supported by more than 3800 Academic Title Holders – these are hospital and clinic-based health professionals who supervise and teach medical and research students, mentor up-and coming junior doctors and researchers, and undertake research to find better ways of treating patients. 

About You

Requirements for Level B

  • An MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. Eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience and capacity in the delivery of medical education materials relevant to small and/or large group settings
  • Highly developed organisational skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex working environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity for high-level interpersonal communication, collaboration, and working in teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage with and develop scholarly work in medical education
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships, and to represent and promote the discipline to academic, industry, government and professional bodies.

Additional requirements for Level C

  • A clinical Fellowship in a relevant discipline or equivalent clinical experience
  • Demonstrated experience and capacity in the development and delivery of medical education materials relevant to small and/or large group settings.
  • Demonstrated academic leadership skills, including capacity for high-level interpersonal communication, collaboration, and the building of effective teams.
  • Evidence of a program of scholarly work in medical education and national recognition in this area

What We Can Offer 

This is a part time (0.4 FTE), fixed-term appointment through to the 31st October 2024 at Academic Level B or C.

Please note that it is a requirement of this role to work on EITHER Tuesday and Thursdays OR Wednesday and Fridays to align with the TBL group’s timetable.

The full-time equivalent base salary at Academic Level B will be in the range $101,533.66 – $120,570.86 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $118,794.38 – $141,067.91 per annum.  

The full-time equivalent base salary at Academic Level C will be in the range $124,378.29 – $143,415.50 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $145,522.60 – $167,796.14 per annum.

The following flexible employment options may be available for this role: some working from home; variable start or finish times; compressed hours; purchased leave; flex-time.
