JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Brandywine invites applications for a full-time faculty position as Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor or Lecturer in Engineering. This is a 36-week limited term (single year) academic appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire with a strong expectation of appointment renewal for subsequent periods. Appointment will begin August 2023 for the Fall 2023 semester.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach four courses (12 credits) each semester of introductory and intermediate undergraduate courses in the areas of engineering design, solid modeling using Solidworks, mechanics, materials manufacturing, and computational modeling (finite element analysis). Additional responsibilities include participation in course, curriculum, and program development, advise students, supervise student projects, provide career guidance, participate in campus, university, and community service activities; engage in activities to stay current in the discipline, commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment; advocate for diversity and values of inclusion.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Engineering is required for the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. Highly qualified individuals with a Masters in Engineering with 3+ years of related teaching or industry experience can be considered for the rank of Lecturer. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred.

Additional preferences: experience in other areas of engineering, interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching, prior college-level and online teaching experience, enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment, and evidence of potential in research and publications.
