Department Summary The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a for a full-time Lecturer (Non-tenure track) faculty position in the department of Criminal Justice and Sociology, beginning Fall 2023. For best consideration, applications should be submitted between December 1, 2022- January 1, 2023.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach the equivalence of 4 courses per semester and to assist in further development of the UNTD Criminal Justice and Sociology Department, and our emerging program in Emergency Services Administration. The department of Criminal Justice and Sociology is an interdisciplinary department that consists of multiple undergraduate and graduate programs. The programs are designed to put theory into practice through a combination of curriculum and experiential learning. With a robust department of highly experienced faculty, graduates of each program are prepared to make an immediate impact in their chosen field.
Position Summary Expectations for non-tenure track faculty at UNTD include excellence in teaching and service, resulting in contributions equivalent to a four-course load each semester. This workload expectation can be fulfilled through a combination of teaching and program development or other duties assigned by the department.
Faculty are also expected to participate in such service activities as curriculum development, online course development, student recruiting and advising, program assessment, project development, program leadership, coordinating service learning, and committee leadership.
Minimum Qualifications • Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Emergency Services, or a closely related discipline
• 18 hours of graduate work in Criminal Justice.
• Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
• Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and teaching online courses
• Demonstrated experience in teaching undergraduate courses in Criminal Justice.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in curriculum development and developing interdisciplinary programs
Experience in service activities to a university and community
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Doctorate equivalent in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Emergency Services , or a closely related discipline; J.D.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing service learning and experiential learning in curricular and co-curricular settings.
  • Academic experience working on a university campus with a culturally diverse population.
