Lecturer, Medical Education [LKCMedicine]

ACADEMIC FACULTY APPOINTMENT:  The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine

A Lecturer, Medical Education at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) is expected to make a major contribution to the education mission of the School. The appointee will join a team of medical educators delivering an MBBS programme which has Team-Based Learning (TBL) as its core pedagogy but which also draws on a number of other evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning (e.g., technology enhanced learning). Responsibility will be primarily in Years 1 and 2 but may involve Years 3-5 given the spiral nature of our curriculum. The faculty will contribute to other key educational activities within the MBBS programme, which may include assessment, course evaluation, and/or student support. Content expertise in a biomedical science area or anatomy is desirable. In addition, the appointee will be expected to contribute to educational research and/or scholarship.

Key Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Lecturer, Medical Education is appointed by the Dean, LKCMedicine. The primary focus of this role is undergraduate MBBS teaching. The new faculty will join a multidisciplinary team to contribute to supporting TBL sessions and other teaching in the MBBS curriculum, primarily in but not limited to Years 1 and 2. The appointee will also contribute to other areas of medical education, such as curriculum review and course evaluation. In addition, the appointee will contribute to educational research, innovation and/or scholarship.

Primary Responsibilities/Activities

The key responsibilities include:

  • To facilitate TBL

  • To provide expertise as a content expert in TBL and anatomy teaching

  • To contribute to other key areas within the MBBS programme, which may include written examinations (question writing, quality assurance, standard setting)

  • To work in in collaboration with colleagues to contribute to curriculum review, renewal and innovation.

  • To contribute to medical education research and scholarship

  • To participate in student outreach events

Time Commitment

The level of effort for this appointment is at 1.0 full time equivalent (FTE) employment.
