The College of Science seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Sustainable Agri-food Systems at the Lincoln Institute for Agri-food Technology (LIAT), an innovative and forward-thinking unit with an acknowledged international track record of research, teaching and leadership across major fields within the discipline. This position is to strengthen the school’s expertise in the area of food supply, food economics, and food systems analysis. The post holder is primarily expected to contribute to the Institute’s teaching activities to support the delivery and development of innovative learning and challenge-based project and research opportunities across our postgraduate programmes. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the support and supervision of MSc projects.

The Riseholme Campus is home to Lincoln Agri-Robotics (LAR), the University’s research group focused on applying robotics solutions to agricultural challenges (awarded £6.4 million from Research England). Academics and students in this field apply their excellent track record in robotics, autonomous systems, manipulation, grasping, mobility, sensing, perception and communication. The University is also the lead institution for the new EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Agri-Food Robotics (AgriFoRwArdS), together with partners at the Universities of Cambridge and East Anglia.

The University of Lincoln has an excellent reputation for teaching and learning, and you will contribute to this in this subject area in alignment with the University’s strategic objectives. You will have opportunities to engage with research in the Institute through professional practice and scholarship activities and/or engagement with the Institute’s research centres and wider activities such as developing industry relationships and facilitating commercial enterprise.

Candidates should possess a PhD or equivalent experience, ideally in agri-food supply chains, agri-food management or agri-business economics and preferably with a track record in the delivery of study modules at postgraduate level. You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to maintaining the University’s high standards in teaching and learning. Your professional interests and research will form an integral part of the strategic plan of LIAT working with other academics in the institute and across the university.

The University is committed to building a culturally diverse institution, where all staff and students can flourish and feel valued for their contribution and individuality.  We are encouraging talented people, whatever their background, to work and study here.  All appointments are made on merit. We particularly welcome applications from suitably qualified female academics, as they are currently under-represented in positions within the College.
