Job Summary:

Teach one or more of the following courses. Each course represents one 33.4% appointment:.
– Psychology 210 – “Basic Statistics in Psychology”: Measures of central tendency, variability; probability, sampling distributions; hypothesis testing, confidence intervals; t-tests; Chi-square; regression and correlation (linear) and introduction to analysis of variance (1-way). Prepare and present lectures. Prepare, administer and grade exams. Hold office hours. Supervise one teaching assistant in teaching labs and other duties.
-Psychology 601 – “Current Topics in Psychology”: Special topics in Psychology at the advanced undergraduate level. Prepare/present lectures, lead discussion sections. Prepare, administer and grade exams. Hold office hours. Psychology 601 is considered a Senior Capstone course. One section is available. Topic must focus on neuroscience. Responsibilities: Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.
  • 30% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • 65% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • 5% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Education:

Required
Master’s Degree in Psychology or relevant area required. Demonstrated expertise in area of specialization required.
Preferred
PhD, other terminal degree, or ABD in Psychology strongly preferred. Candidates should have a strong background in behavioral research.
It is the policy of the Department of Psychology to give preference to the hiring of department’s dissertators and new Ph.D graduates for all non-renewable lecturer positions.

Qualifications:

At least one year of experience teaching in higher education, preferably at a large enrollment institution. Strong background in research is required. Ideal candidate will also have experience teaching Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods (writing intensive), as well as a specialty area course. Preference will be given to candidates with the flexibility to teach across the curriculum. Other courses may include child development, primate behavior, as well as courses in career exploration.
Candidates should have excellent teaching, interpersonal, teamwork, written and oral communication skills, as well as keen attention to detail and precision, excellent organizational skills, ability to work and complete tasks under deadline pressures, high degree of initiative and resourcefulness, and proven success and effectiveness in working both independently and in team.

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 33.4% – 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 5 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary:

Minimum $43,388 ACADEMIC (9 months)
Depending on Qualifications

Additional Information:

There is a possibility this position can be extended in subsequent semesters to teach one or more of the courses listed on this PVL, or similar courses within the department. This position may become renewable if there is a need for an ongoing appointment.
