Base Salary starting from $113,184 plus 17% superannuation

Nutrition and Dietetics has a proud heritage at the University of Sydney being taught for more than five decades and consistently achieving ERA research rankings well above world standards. The Discipline has recently joined the prestigious Sydney Nursing School in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. The School is ranked #1 in Australia and #12 in the world 2022 QS subject ranking in nursing. The Discipline of Nutrition and Dietetics is now actively growing in teaching and research in its new School and Faculty
The University is seeking to employ two-level B Lecturers to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design, and evaluation within newly developed undergraduate units of study in nutrition and in the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics.
This is an exciting opportunity to assist in the coordination and teaching of undergraduate nutrition, online health promotion units of study, and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics coursework.
Our teaching encourages the use of innovative methods using communication technologies and social media. The team works within the Susan Wakil Health Building- a purpose-built facility, boasting state-of-the-art simulation rooms, 4 lecture theatres, and an array of other specialty spaces and equipment for nursing and allied health students and research in the Charles Perkins Centre, internationally acknowledged for cutting-edge multidisciplinary research in nutrition.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation
coordinate and teach in undergraduate nutrition units of study and a smaller contribution in the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics
use innovative methods using communication technologies to educate and engage with students
engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences
design and deliver quality educational programs and experiences that support student needs and meet curriculum requirements
develop a program of research, contribute to the discipline’s research output and supervise research students
honour and adhere to the University’s policies, codes, and guidelines including the University’s Code of Conduct while consistently demonstrating the University’s culture and values.
Position 1-
About you
The lecturer will be asked to grow the curriculum in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being and doing and to develop a research program to support this.
You will demonstrate
A developing research profile evidenced by original, high-quality and independent research in the discipline of nutrition and dietetics and interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ nutrition and health and wellbeing
PhD in an academic field relevant to Nutrition and Dietetic practice and the Accredited Practising Dietitian credential awarded by Dietitians Australia
experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in online learning
developing network of relationships with key academic, community and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders
capacity to communicate effectively across a range of media and forums
ability to grow the curriculum in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being and doing
development of a research program to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nutrition (the group has been housed in the Charles Perkins Centre which has Aboriginal health as a key domain)
ability to develop a research grant and possess a publication record commensurate with a level B Lecturer.
Position 2-
About you
The lecturer will be a talented emerging leader who we anticipate will readily form research networks across the faculty mentored by the Heads of Discipline and School. They will teach into an innovative undergraduate unit of study which will have Faculty and interfaculty appeal.
PhD in an academic field relevant to Nutrition and Dietetic practice and the Accredited Practising Dietitian credential awarded by Dietitians Australia
proven use of innovative methods using communication technologies for teaching and capacity to communicate effectively across a range of media and forums
a developing research profile demonstrated by hihigh-qualityutputs and conducting research in the discipline or area of expertise
developing network of relationships with key academics and stakeholders
interest in issues of nutrition and dietetics and sustainability
a developing research grant and publication track record commensurate with a level B Lecturer.
