All applicants are required to have recent teaching and/or applied experience of key areas of Engineering Design and Manufacturing; design methodology, design tools and techniques (e.g. FM, QFD, DFx, FMEA, etc), product life-cycle, CAD/CAM and technical drawing.

Within the role they should be able to relate current industrial best practice in the field of Engineering Design an Manufacturing into a manageable format that students can realistically engage with, to ensure a contemporary and rigorous approach to Engineering Design.

Expertise and experience in all or some of the following subject matters are beneficial:

  • Design management
  • Systems Engineering (V-model approach)
  • Design verification and validation
  • Application and management of standards and specification
  • Recent applied experience of CAM software and systems
  • Design for manufacture principles (DFMA)
  • Knowledge and applied experience of varied production techniques, such as CNC
  • Metrology, GD&T and part inspection processes
  • Design for Sustainability would be advantageous

You will need to share our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do and will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge in your area of specialisation. You will be expected to undertake curriculum development, design and delivery of teaching that is engaging, innovative and responsive, that achieves excellent student learning outcomes. You must be willing to work flexibly to promote and support international partnerships, as well as potentially deliver teaching onsite at one of our international partners.

This position is a teaching focused post that will attract candidates that wish to focus on pedagogic practice, curriculum development and course management. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to conduct relevant commercial activity. 

The candidate should be qualified to PhD level in a relevant subject area or have comparable industrial experience.  Experience of working in professional educational practice/consultancy projects, as well as experience of working on applied research projects, will be advantageous.
