The Post
Communications, Media & Culture (CMC) wishes to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced candidate at Lecturer in Digital Post-Production (at Grade 7 or Grade 8 depending on experience and qualifications) with specialist interests in post-production to expand the Division’s teaching, research and scholarship, and knowledge exchange activities. This appointment will expand provision within the key strategic areas of audio and video production, digital media and journalism.
The post holder will have an established profile as lecturer or practitioner, working in the areas of digital post-production and demonstrable experience or expertise in edit and post-production. The post-holder will be expected to deliver practice-based teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students, develop and deliver new commercial provision and to undertake administrative duties as appropriate.
Applicants with recent and relevant professional involvement in professional production, strong editing skills, and experience of teaching television production and post-production, including supervising high-quality video production work from concept through to final delivery, are encouraged to apply. The role would suit a candidate able to enhance student employability as part of a curriculum which mixes theory and practice.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who is able to effectively teach, motivate and mentor undergraduates and postgraduates. They will contribute to the strategic direction of CMC through scholarship, teaching and impact activities, including short-course opportunities. Post holders may be required to travel abroad as part of their duties. Applicants with specialist knowledge, skills or interests in one or more of the following areas are invited to apply:

Grade 7
- Contribute to the design, delivery, assessment and evaluation of a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including online/digital programmes, where required
- Contribute to the enhancement of the quality of teaching provision and programme development, drawing on leading practices from the HE sector and/ or relevant professional practice
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of effective approaches to teaching and learning support as key contributions to high quality student learning
- Contribute to enhancement of the student experience and employability
- Engage in individual and collaborative pedagogical research and scholarly activity, which aligns to the strategic direction of the University, and disseminate results through regular publication in a manner appropriate to the work
- Independently, and in collaboration with colleagues, contribute to bids for external funding/income for scholarship activities
- Participate in the Faculty’s international engagement activities as required e.g. delivering teaching, contributing to joint programmes and recruitment of students
- Participate in, and develop, networks and collaborations both internally and externally to the Division/Faculty/University
- Participate in the administrative processes of the Division/Faculty/University including committee membership, quality assurance procedures and recruitment and admission of students
- Evaluate own practice, continue to maintain professional practice and undertake continuous professional development appropriate to the role
