Who are we looking for?
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Lecturer in Counselling
to join School of Psychology and Counselling, Faculty of Health, Academic Division.
The Lecturer in Counselling will contribute to teaching excellence and curriculum development in the School, specifically in counselling, at the undergraduate level (including the fourth year Honours program) and the postgraduate level (including the Master of Counselling).
Real world impact
QUT is a major Australian university with a global outlook and a
‘real world’ focus. We are an ambitious and collaborative institution
that seeks to equip our students and graduates with the skills they
will need in an increasingly disrupted and challenged world.
About the Faculty
QUT has embraced a collaborative approach to improving the health of our nation, bridging the gap between science and better health through a focus on prevention, evidence, innovation and real outcomes.
The Faculty of Health is led by the Executive Dean and the Executive Management Team comprising the Deputy Dean, Heads of Schools, and other senior faculty staff. Each of the Schools within the Faculty is established around disciplines that promote integration and collaboration in teaching and research, and provide a sustainable foundation upon which to build areas of strength. Its organisational structure includes the:
• School of Biomedical Sciences
• School of Clinical Sciences
• School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences
• School of Nursing
• School of Optometry and Vision Science
• School of Psychology and Counselling
• School of Public Health and Social Work.
The Faculty of Health operates across the university’s two campuses, Kelvin Grove and Gardens Point, and several distributed sites. The proximity of the Kelvin Grove campus to hospital facilities at Herston provides the faculty with a distinct competitive advantage and a renowned precinct that offers transformative education, aligned biomedical research and industry engagement.
About the School
The School of Psychology and Counselling, one of seven Schools in the Faculty of Health, is an energetic School with an excellent teaching reputation, strong growth and success in its research profile in a range of areas and strong connections in the community. The School houses the internationally renowned Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety – Queensland (CARRS-Q).
Through an off campus affiliation, School researchers are also based at the Centre for Children’s Health Research (CCHR). The School has 3 clinics through which clinical training is provided based at the QUT Health Clinics, namely the QUT Health Clinics – Psychology and Counselling, the Counselling and Family Therapy Services, and the Caroline Chisholm School, Student, and Family Support Centre.
The School delivers accredited undergraduate and Honours degrees in psychology, as well as accredited postgraduate studies in clinical psychology, educational and developmental psychology, and counselling. Through the focus on real-world practice and applications, including work integrated learning opportunities, our graduates are prepared for a wide range of positions.
