Due to internal promotion, a vacancy for a Lecturer (grade 8) in Children and Young People’s Nursing post has arisen within the School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership.

We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking nurse who is committed to the highest standards of education, practice and research.  In return, we’ll give you the opportunity to develop your academic nursing career and reach your potential, whether this is your first university role, or you are an experienced academic.

Working within the children’s nursing team, and the School as a whole, you will contribute to the teaching, delivery, development, research, and administrative support of undergraduate and taught postgraduate nursing programmes, and other related programmes.  You will provide academic and pastoral support to students within the School to equip students with the values, knowledge and skills that will prepare them to excel in their future nursing career.  You will contribute to the student recruitment and admissions of the Nursing Programmes. Please see the job description for more details.

You will have NMC registration with a first degree in a related subject.  Experience of working in higher education is desirable, along with a teaching qualification and master’s degree or equivalent.   A commitment to undertaking a PhD and membership of the Higher Education Academy is an essential requirement of the role – we will support you to achieve these if not already held.  Please see the person specification for more details.

The successful candidate should demonstrate a practical awareness of current developments in nurse education and be able to facilitate the creation and maintenance of a range of links between courses and the health care sector.

Full or part time hours are available.  Secondments will also be welcomed.

For further information, please contact Dr Michael Tatterton, Associate Professor and Professional Lead for Children and Young People’s Nursing: [email protected]

Please note that this appointment is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
