The Department for Pre-Qualifying Practice has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our amazing  FdSc Health & Social Care team as a permanent Lecturer. We are a motivated, supportive, and friendly team who continually deliver a programme that is learner centred and employer led as well as providing innovative, educational opportunities within a professional and supportive environment.

The two-year FdSc Assistant Practitioner programme is a higher apprenticeship, work-based learning course aimed at experienced Health Care Assistants and new to care learners. We are advocates of the Assistant Practitioner role and take every opportunity to highlight how the role is an essential part of the ever-evolving healthcare workforce. We support a number of specific pathways including Maternity Support, Surgical Support, Diagnostic Radiography and Mammography alongside our core modules which include:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Personal and Professional Development
  • Leadership and Management
  • Evidence-based Healthcare

As a Lecturer within the team, you will:

  • Design & Develop Module Content across the FdSc Nursing Associate Programme
  • Manage modules, including oversight of day-to-day operational processes
  • Quality assure module design and delivery aligned to university regulations
  • Contribute to the development of academic processes across the institution
  • Develop and apply innovating teaching techniques
  • Develop assessments to test learner’s attainment of relevant knowledge and skills across a range of informal and formal methods
  • Provide pastoral and academic support
  • Be supported to develop research, enterprise, and scholarly activities

 Essential Criteria:

  • Hold current registration with the NMC or HCPC
  • Educated to Degree level in a health-related subject
  • Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge
  • Demonstrate current experience of supporting undergraduate students/trainees/ apprentices in clinical/educational/HEI settings
  • Demonstrate awareness of Apprenticeships, Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education, OFSTED and NMC

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous HEI experience
  • A Postgraduate Certificate in Education or equivalent
