Lecturer (Education) – Initial Teacher Education (Science)

The School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work (SSESW) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Lecturer (Education) – Initial Teacher Education (Science).  The successful applicant will teach the subject specialism of Science on the School’s Initial Teacher Education PGCE Science programme to develop or maintain a portfolio of appropriate scholarly activity, and to contribute to School administration/outreach activity.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have: 

  • Honours Degree in Chemistry or Physics or an honours degree with a significant Chemistry or Physics component
  • Recognised teaching qualification granting eligibility to teach at Post-Primary level (ages 11-18)
  • Demonstrable scholarly activity in subjects relevant to Science and/or Science Education
  • Experience of teaching Chemistry or Physics to A-Level (or equivalent) in Post-Primary Schools (min 3 years)
  • Experience in teaching or mentoring ITE students and/or beginning teachers.
