The Opportunity

Education-focused staff at Monash are an elite category of the academy who focus on and contribute to the innovation of education and leading the design and delivery of education at the University.

We are seeking a passionate Lecturer to join the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM) in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences on a full-time continuing basis. The role will require expertise in teaching across a variety of public health areas including health promotion, health policy and public health fundamentals. In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Director of Teaching and Learning, SPHPM and will provide a range of high-quality, research and/or professional activities, to the teaching effort of the department within the University.

This can include:

• Proactively preparing and delivering lectures and seminars, conducting consultations with students and developing resources and course materials
• Conducting broad administrative functions including marking and assessment
• Building learning and teaching capacity in fellow academics within the department, school or faculty
• Publishing educational or disciplinary research in high-quality journals or equivalent
• Attracting and retaining funding to undertake projects that enhance student or staff learning and teaching outcomes

This position is suited to a highly motivated individual who holds advanced qualifications and/or recognised significant experience in the relevant discipline area. A position at this level will normally require a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing. Additionally, the successful candidate will ideally have demonstrated excellence in teaching in the discipline area, proven experience in mentoring and supervising coursework and HDR students and have a passion for engaging in scholarly and research activities.
