| Department Summary | The Department of Psychology at UNT is unique, in that it includes ~30 faculty members who serve and facilitate three PhD programs and two undergraduate degree tracks. The Department of Psychology educates over 3,000 undergraduate majors and minors and approximately 110 graduate students, making us one of the largest and sought-after departments. Our faculty have expertise in research, pedagogy, training, and a range of psychological disciplines including forensic clinical psychology, multicultural counseling, and cognition. UNT is the only university system in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area that is a designated Purple Heart University, Minority Serving Institution, and Hispanic Serving Institution. For 4 years in a row, UNT has won the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award. Our departmental mission is to equip our graduates with psychological knowledge and skills for utilization in a broad workforce and global society. The department faculty have made a commitment to increasing the number of faculty members from historically marginalized groups, including faculty of color. We have established formal and informal mentoring networks and processes by which every faculty member can succeed, feel supported, and find community. Lecturers will teach on the UNT-Denton and UNT-Frisco campuses, with Frisco being the primary responsibility. | Position Summary | University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a Faculty Lecturer position to join the Department of Psychology and contribute to our robust undergraduate and graduate programs. This recruitment is part of a broader departmental expansion and investment where several new faculty members are expected to be hired. The multiple-year and non-tenure track position (3-year appointments) is renewable, with clear career developmental pathways and dedicated mentorship to facilitate long-term advancement. Successful applicants are expected to have evidence of their potential for teaching excellence and success with a diverse and multicultural student body. Faculty responsibilities include teaching online and face-to-face primarily at the Frisco campus location, but with at least one course per semester taught at the Denton campus. This position also includes developing new courses, advising and mentoring undergraduate students, and sharing service duties. |
