Full-time Lecturer of Choral and Vocal Studies
The Department of Performing Arts at Clemson University seeks an outstanding lecturer of choral and vocal studies to begin August 2023. This is a 9-month faculty position that will hold the academic rank of fulltime Lecturer with opportunity for future promotion to senior and principal lecturer ranks.
The successful candidate will work with colleagues to build and maintain a vibrant choral/vocal studies program, assuming a variety of responsibilities as the major demands; direct the CU Men’s and Women’s choirs and/or offer voice lessons and serve as music director of at least one musical theatre production per year. May teach additional courses depending upon the candidate’s qualifications and the needs of the department; work collaboratively with faculty members from the vocal and theatre areas on musical theatre productions and participate actively in student recruitment.
The Performing Arts degree at Clemson University is a nationally distinctive degree that integrates the technology, performance, production, theory, and history of the performing arts into a unified program of study that prepares students for careers in many aspects of the arts. The Department of Performing Arts occupies the Robert Howell Brooks Center for the Performing Arts. The Brooks Center is an 87,000 square foot educational/performance building that includes classrooms, rehearsal halls, offices, and supporting spaces.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a minimum of a master’s degree in music or have completed a doctorate in voice performance, choral conducting, music education or a related field. Additional qualifications: teaching experience at the secondary or college level; demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and student recruitment.
Preference may be given to candidates with experience directing choral ensembles and with musical theatre experience.

Additional Information:
Standard Hrs: 37.5; Salary commensurate with credentials and experience. This position qualifies for state benefits.
